Board of Governors
Ha Thang Long PhD
Country Representative Frankfurt Zoological Society
Long is the Country Representative of the Frankfurt Zoological Society. He has started working in conservation since 1999, at the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre in Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam. In 2009, Long finished his PhD in Animal Ecology at the University of Cambridge, England. In 2012, he co-founded GreenViet, a non-profit organization working to conserve important ecosystems and endangered species in the Central and Central Highlands regions. Since 2022, he has participated in the management board of the Vietnam Conservation Fund to support local CSOs to expand their impact in conservation. He joins WildAct’s Board of Governors in 2023 to provide technical and fundraising support for WildAct, especially regarding strategic planning, advocacy, species and habitat conservation.

Heidi Quine MSc
Director of Bear and Vet Department
Heidi is the Director of the Veterinary and Bears Care Department for the Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre within Animals Asia. She is a strategic leader and media spokesperson with 22+ years of experience in the welfare and conservation sector. Heidi’s expertise is varied including strategic planning & execution, programme development, capacity building, team development & management, change management, compliance, reporting & budgeting, training & development, and strategic communication & partnerships. In 2018, Heidi completed her MSc degree in International Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law from the University of Edinburgh and currently completing my MBA in Human Resources through the Australian Institute of Business. Her leadership is centred on the notion that "happy people means happy animals." Joining WildAct as a governing board member, Heidi expects to contribute her diverse expertise to strengthening WildAct governance, improving team leadership and capacity, as well as introducing potential fundraising and partnership.

Josh Kempinski MSc
Wildlife and Natural Heritage Advisor
Josh has currently worked as the advisor to the Wild & Natural Heritage Department of the Royal Commission for AlUla, in Saudi Arabia. Before that, Josh worked on species conservation and protected area management in Vietnam between 2004 and 2022, mostly with Fauna & Flora International (FFI). During that time, he also worked on climate/nature synergies in protected areas, mangrove systems, REDD+, and energy policy (mainly hydro-dams). He has been involved with various conservation and forest carbon/carbon market analysis projects in Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Australia, England, Tanzania and Mozambique. Josh finished his MSc degree in Ecological Management at Imperial College, London, England in 2004. Josh expects to provide technical support for WildAct in strategic planning, legality, governance, and assist WildAct to expand its influence at the regional and global levels.

Nguyen Thi Thu Trang
Founder & Executive Director
Dr. Trang Nguyen is a Vietnamese wildlife conservation scientist and practitioner. Born and raised in Vietnam, Trang has always been close to the plight of endangered wildlife and began her conservation efforts when she was just 16. In 2018, Trang finished her PhD in Biodiversity Management at the University of Kent, England.

Born and raised in Vietnam, Trang has always been close to the plight of endangered wildlife and began her conservation efforts when she was just 16. In 2018, Trang finished her PhD in Biodiversity Management at the University of Kent, England. Trang devotes her time to researching and monitoring the markets for illegal wildlife products. Her research has taken her across continents and contexts, from Asia to Africa, while exploring the demand for wildlife products. Dr. Trang Nguyen and WildAct team also invest in educating and raising Vietnamese youth’s awareness on this subject. Trang received a prestigious international award Future for Nature for her work in combating illegal wildlife trade in 2018. She was also named among global most influential women by the BBC in 2019 and received Princess of Girona Foundation Award in 2022.

Ho Thi Kim Lan
Capacity & Strategic Development Specialist
Lan joins WildAct in January 2023 after 12+ years of experience working with two local NGOs: Wildlife At Risk and Save Vietnam's Wildlife. Lan holds diverse skill sets, expertise, and experience both in and outside wildlife conservation field, particularly in strategic planning and organisational development, ...
Lan joins WildAct in January 2023 after 12+ years of experience working with two local NGOs: Wildlife At Risk and Save Vietnam's Wildlife. Lan holds diverse skill sets, expertise, and experience both in and outside wildlife conservation field, particularly in strategic planning and organisational development, communication and wildlife education, partnership and fundraising, programme development and project management, capacity development, museum interpretation, community engagement, behaviour change, and social research. Lan has been employing a multi-disciplinary approach to develop, deliver and evaluate hands-on conservation programs. Joining WildAct, Lan desires to contribute to increasing leadership and capacity of local conservation NGOs, their partners, and local communities to create on-the-ground, collective, and long-term impacts in conservation. Lan holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Vietnam National University in 2010 and a Master in International Development from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 2020. She also participated and completed a variety of professional development programmes in Vietnam and other countries.

Tran Thi Yen
Program & Operations Coordinator
With rich surveying experience on many target groups of a number of projects, in 2018, Yen started her conservation journey at SVW with the position of Research Assistant in a social research project on wildlife hunting and product use. This programme has contributed to developing and implementing education and awareness programs for local communities and students in the buffer zone of Pu Mat National Park.
With rich surveying experience on many target groups of a number of projects, in 2018, Yen started her conservation journey at SVW with the position of Research Assistant in a social research project on wildlife hunting and product use. This programme has contributed to developing and implementing education and awareness programs for local communities and students in the buffer zone of Pu Mat National Park. Yen kept up her career in conservation by working as a Head Keeper at SVW’s Pu Mat Rescue Center and then, an Education Outreach Officer at SVW before joining WildAct as Program and Operation Coordinator at WildAct. Her experience and effort in rescuing and looking after wild animals, as well as witnessing how they suffered from illegal poaching and trading foster Yen’s dedication and commitment with the conservation sector. This also helped Yen understand more about the importance of education and public awareness to reduce the need for wildlife product consumption, thereby contributing to preventing illegal hunting and trafficking of wild animals. With the new role at WildAct, Yen hopes to deliver conservation initiatives to address human-related challenges in conservation as well as contributing to enhancing WildAct development and operation for more effective practices. Yen graduated from Vietnam National University of Agriculture, majoring in Rural Development in 2017.

Le Thu Ha
Public Relations and Donors Engagement Officer
Graduated with a major in Public Relations at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Thu Ha took a further step as a Public Relations and Donors Engagement Officer at WildAct. Thu Ha has always desired to make work that provides positive values to the community, contributing to establishing a better social life day by day, starting with multi-platform media campaigns concentrating on mental health and green lifestyle.
As a girl who enjoys learning about communication case studies, Thu Ha hope that her contributions will assist in spreading the excellent activities of WildAct throughout the community about wildlife conservation.
Currently, she is working at the position of Communication & Fund-Raising Coordinator at WildAct. Take responsibility for the development, publication and distribution of all online and offline communication materials and manage WildAct communications strategies including website, print, social media, and public relations.

Bui Minh Tue Thu
Communications and Fundraising Officer
Tue Thu is a girl who since childhood has wanted to do work that can create social impact. Born in Nghe An and raised in a family surrounded by plants and animals, she has always had a strong connection with nature. When working at WildAct, she feels happy because this is where she can use her communication skills to raise awareness about environmental problems in the community. Tue Thu graduated with honours with a major in International Relations & Global Communication at the Academy of Journalism and Communication. Hopefully in the future Tue Thu and WildAct will grow together to be able to carry out many projects on the journey protecting wildlife.
In particular, Tue Thu is a girl with a great interest in cinema and travel. So in her free time, it is common for her friends to see her handling a camera to capture moments of experiential trips. Tue Thu also cherishes the plan to make documentaries on the topic of "Wildlife", hoping that the girl's plans can come true in the future.

Species and habitat conservation

Ngo Quoc Phu
Program Manager
Ngo Quoc Phu is a scientist, field surveyor of biodiversity. Ever since he was a boy, Phu has been an enthusiast of science and wildlife, he is well aware that wild animals must live in their own designated habitat. After graduating from a master's program in 2015 with a major in environmental and resource management, he teaches at the university and spends a lot of time doing scientific research on biodiversity. He has participated in many scientific research projects and programs in many national parks and protected areas in Vietnam.
With his experience, knowledge and love for wildlife, Phu decided to join WildAct to contribute to enhancing conservation and management of species and its vital habitats in Vietnam.

Nguyen Thanh Nga
Project Manager
Thanh Nga has joined WildAct as an Education Officer since 2021. Before that, she participated in environmental activities as a volunteer in IUCN's plastic waste communication campaigns when she was a university student. Nga began working with local environmental NGOs and gained a lot of experience in organising training activities and communicating with the community. Besides, Nga participated and completed a variety of forums and training programs on leadership development and project management by CLP, British Council.
Currently, Nga is coordinating and implementing national capacity building programs for young conservationists, developing wild library projects and communication programs to raise public awareness in protected areas and national parks in VietNam.
Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, cycling and spending time with nature and loved ones.
She holds a Bachelor's in Sociology from University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Pham Hanh Huong
Education Out Reach Officer
Born and grew up in Thai Nguyen, Hanh Huong's childhood was associated with the mountain landscape along with green tea hills. Huong involved in conservation when she was a university student with an internship position at MCD (Marine life conservation and community development NGO) as well as participating in scientific research with friends and teachers at the university. With accumulated experience in community connection as well as the confident public speaking ability and organized activities with the community, Huong became an Education Outreach Officer at WildAct in 2023. Currently Huong directly implements projects within the School and community program of WildAct, including: "Wild Library" project and "Wild Rhino Demand Reduction” campaign in collaboration with Wilderness Foundation Africa. Energetic, enthusiastic, cheerful are the adjectives used to describe this girl. Another interesting fact about Huong is that she loves to sit and watch the rain and inhale the scent of heaven and earth with a cup of tea.
Huong joined WildAct in October, 2022 as an Education Intern for the “Bird Migratory” project - Wild Library Program in Ninh Binh Province. After helping WildAct to deliver the activity at school, she understands more about the important role of nature to humans, and wants to take more actions to protect its beauty. Huong holds a strong desire for social changes and raising awareness for Vietnamese Youth toward social issues. Prior to WildAct, she spent nearly one year working with children as an education volunteer for the Hyundai Jump School project. Joining WildAct, she continued to carry out many activities for the Wild Library Program in key project areas including Ninh Binh, Dak Lak, and Quang Binh. Huong has good public speaking and natural ability to engage with school children. Her English capability educated from Hanoi University greatly benefits her work related to document translation and developing education materials of WildAct’s Schools and Community Program.

Dinh Thi Thu Trang

Thu Trang is an extrovert girl with good communication skills and always actively takes part in social projects in a variety of roles. She is studying Education Quality Management at Vietnam National University, University of Education (Hanoi) and she is a Former Deputy Head of the External Relations Department at the social project - Friends of Ireland in Vietnam.
Trang holds a significant desire to contribute to spreading the love of nature and increasing awareness for everyone, especially young Vietnamese people, about preserving nature and protecting wild animals; Trang has been an Educational Assistant at WildAct since September 2023.
In her free time, she often spends time running, reading, and learning new languages. In the future, she wants to become a teacher at university and hopes that her plans will come true.

Carmen is a people-driven entrepreneur who specialises in design, communication and connection. She believes in collective work towards gender equality and a sustainable planet. In the past 10 years, she has founded three ventures - her namesake jewellery brand, Carmen Chan Jewelry; creative agency, Studio C; and social business, Good Work.
Carmen Chan Jewelry celebrates the beauty of imperfection through jewellery and accessory design. Carmen was awarded as the finalist of Lane Crawford Calling Out For the Next New 2015 and highlighted in Facebook #SheMeansBusiness in 2016. Her jewellery designs were published in international press including Vanity Fair, Tatler, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Timeout, and more.
Studio C is a creative agency that provides public relations, marketing, and design services. Some of the clients of STUDIO C include Taylor Swift, Marriott International, AXA, Johnson & Johnson, The Lane Crawford Joyce Group, Hang Lung Properties, New World Development, Hong Kong Design Centre, Affordable Art Fair and more.

We believe in collaborative and collective work with other social innovators and nonprofits towards the eradication of gender inequality and gender-based violence.

Anh got inspired by Trang Nguyen at a launching event for her first book titled “Back to the Wild” in 2018. This prompted him to take more action for the good cause of our society. He wanted to be a design volunteer for WildAct and was happy to receive the warm welcome, appreciation, openness, and support from Trang and her team.

Chau is a designer and facilitator with a primary focus on creating a just and sustainable future for all living beings, both human and non-human, through creative and collective methods. She employs design thinking and speculative design to advance this vision with WildAct, supporting projects like the development of a new user-friendly website and co-facilitating a collective imagination workshop with teenagers, envisioning diverse futures for migratory birds. Mai Thi Diem
Communication Intern
Diem was born and grew up in a coastal area in Nam Dinh. Her childhood was associated with nature and the ocean, therefore, she has a strong concern about the environment and the ecology including conservation issues. During her university time, she got involved in sustainable-based NGOs as a volunteer for UNDP Vietnam’s projects. Besides, she also participated in a Free E-waste workshop supported by YSEALI as a Vietnamese Delegate. Those experiences have driven her to contribute more for sustainable development and nature conservation efforts. As a Communication Intern at WildAct, she would like to apply her communication skills to make WildAct's activities to be known by more communities and create more impact on society about wildlife conservation.

Thu Trang is a graphic design student who is interested in nature and loves animals. In her leisure time, Thu Trang often spends her time on ecology documentaries and read a lot of news about the nature world. With a passion for the colors and shapes of nature, Thu Trang is excited to be a WildAct Communications Design intern.

Ho Vinh Bao Long
Communication Intern
Bao Long joined in WildAct in June 2023 as an intern in charge of design of the Communication Department. Being a student of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, he is aware of the importance of communication in this day and age. Beside, Bao Long is always fascinated by the diverse and unique beauty of nature, wild animals so that he always tries to bring the beauty of wild nature into his design products to help spread the message of wildlife protection in Vietnam.
In the journey with WildAct, Bao Long has learned and gained a lot of experience. At the same time, working experience in WildAct has also turned nature and wildlife into a great inspiration in Bao Long's design work.

Pham Kim Ngan
Operations and Program Intern
Ngan was born and raised in the crowded city of Hanoi, and her parents were the ones who first inspired her love of nature and animals since she was a little child.
As she grew up and attended the Faculty of International Studies at Hanoi University, she was afterwards inspired and encouraged to dedicate herself to making a positive impact on society and spreading awareness about preserving the environment, nature, and wildlife. In July 2023, she joined WildAct as a Program and Operations Intern in order to support the protection of nature and make an effort to contribute to WildAct's projects.
