Partnership and Development: Collaboration in WildAct’s other programs

Collaborations

WildAct’s current local partners include Chu Yang Sin National Park and Yok Don National Park (Dak Lak Province); Tuyen Hoa District People's Committee (Quang Binh Province); Pu Mat National Park (Nghe An Province); Department of Forest Protection and Department of Education and Training (Ninh Binh Province). In addition, WildAct has received support from Vietnam Association of National Park and Protected Area (VNPPA) as a governing agency of the organisation. WildAct and VMPPA are discussing some initiatives to support the work and welfare of rangers and officers working in protected areas in Vietnam.

Partnership with Tropical Biology Association

Tropical Biology Association is a leading organisation in capacity building in conservation. WildAct is honoured to be one of six project partners collaborating with Tropical Biology Association to conduct a regional capacity building program named “Strengthening Capacity for Conservation in Indo-Burma”. The program was developed by Tropical Biology Association (TBA) and funded by Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) for the cycle from 2023 to 2024. The program aims to provide local CSO and NGOs in the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot with the tools and skills to enhance their long-term conservation impact.

The programme combines TBA’s Virtual Learning Platform, an in-person master class in Vietnam, and mentoring series after the program ends. Three modules of the program include Project Development and Fundraising; Communications; and Organisational Management & Strategic Planning. WildAct will be the host organising the Communications module in Vietnam in November 2023.

Six local partners of the program include WildAct Vietnam, Living River Association (Thailand), the Myanmar Biodiversity and Nature Conservation Association, Wildlife Conservation Society Lao, NatureLife Cambodia and the Asian Species Action Partnership (ASAP).

Partnership with Eco Activists for Governance and Law Enforcement (The EAGLE Network)

WildAct collaborates with The EAGLE Network to conduct a project titled “Improving enforcement to disrupt illegal wildlife trade between Africa and Vietnam', funded by the Future For Nature Family Funding. In this project, WildAct and The EAGLE Network aim to train Asian wildlife crime investigators, in a long-term partnership. The trained investigator will then travel to African countries – where The EAGLE Network operates, to provide field investigation support when required. This collaboration will be valuable for enforcement in both Vietnam and Africa with the aim of ending illegal wildlife crimes.

The project aims to create a long-term partnership of wildlife crime investigators between Vietnam and Africa; improve Vietnamese and Asian investigators’ capacity; and increase enforcement efforts and arrest rates in EAGLE network’s operating African countries.

Because of sensitive specifics related to undercover investigation, some details and identifiable information of the project such as project approaches, timeline, sites, implementers, etc. are unable to be published.
