Volunteer stories

Viet Anh

Professional volunteer

I first heard of Ms. Trang Nguyen in 2018 through a friend who attended the book launch event for her book "Return to the Wild". At that time, I was just a young person standing from afar, admiring her and observing her as she signed books for everyone. Then, at a certain moment, I realised that I wanted to do something truly meaningful to help others and the world. That was the first time I gathered up the courage to proactively email Ms. Trang, hoping to become a volunteer designer for WildAct, and I was very happy to receive a warm welcome and sincere thanks from Ms. Trang. Everyone on the team is very open and appreciative of the design work I'm responsible for, including workshops, events, and a series of branding materials. This job is very meaningful to me, helping me to discover myself, connect with others, broaden my horizons, and provide career opportunities. I hope to always be a part of WildAct and contribute to the team's meaningful projects. ^^”

Programme intern

I volunteered with WildAct Vietnam for three months as a project assistant, and it was an unforgettable experience. I learned so much about wildlife conservation and research methods and had the chance to work with a dedicated and knowledgeable team. I contributed to several research projects on the ecology of endangered species (song bird) and the impacts of human activities on their habitats. I also had the opportunity to present my findings at a national conference and publish a paper in a peer-reviewed journal. I highly recommend volunteering with WildAct Vietnam if you want to make a real difference in wildlife conservation.

Communications & Fund-raising Volunteer

Hello!

I became a volunteer for WildAct for the first time in October 2020 as a Communications & Fund-raising Volunteer. During those 3 months, I supported WildAct in communication for the Quang Binh Langur conservation fundraising campaign on Christmas and New Year 2021. I continued to volunteer in October 2022 in field trip activities for the migratory birds conservation project.

Working with WildAct gives me practical volunteering experiences and I feel that my work has a concrete impact on the activities of the organisation. WildAct is a local NGO that works professionally, aiming to have a bigger and more practical impact not only in conservation activities but also in building an equal workplace for women.

As a part of WildAct, I have access to people who have worked in NGOs for many years and received certain suggestions and orientations for my career, contributing a part to my choice of work at the time.  The connections I have at WildAct are also important and close, making me feel like a part of and welcome even though I don't always volunteer here anymore.
