Board of Governors

Ha Thang Long PhD

Country Representative Frankfurt Zoological Society

Long is the Country Representative of the Frankfurt Zoological Society. He has started working in conservation since 1999, at the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre in Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam. In 2009, Long finished his PhD in Animal Ecology at the University of Cambridge, England. In 2012, he co-founded GreenViet, a non-profit organization working to conserve important ecosystems and endangered species in the Central and Central Highlands regions. Since 2022, he has participated in the management board of the Vietnam Conservation Fund to support local CSOs to expand their impact in conservation. He joins WildAct’s Board of Governors in 2023 to provide technical and fundraising support for WildAct, especially regarding strategic planning, advocacy, species and habitat conservation.

Heidi Quine MSc

Director of Bear and Vet Department

Heidi is the Director of the Veterinary and Bears Care Department for the Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre within Animals Asia. She is a strategic leader and media spokesperson with 22+ years of experience in the welfare and conservation sector. Heidi’s expertise is varied including strategic planning & execution, programme development, capacity building, team development & management, change management, compliance, reporting & budgeting, training & development, and strategic communication & partnerships. In 2018, Heidi completed her MSc degree in International Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law from the University of Edinburgh and currently completing my MBA in Human Resources through the Australian Institute of Business. Her leadership is centred on the notion that "happy people means happy animals." Joining WildAct as a governing board member, Heidi expects to contribute her diverse expertise to strengthening WildAct governance, improving team leadership and capacity, as well as introducing potential fundraising and partnership.

Josh Kempinski MSc

Wildlife and Natural Heritage Advisor

Josh has currently worked as the advisor to the Wild & Natural Heritage Department of the Royal Commission for AlUla, in Saudi Arabia. Before that, Josh worked on species conservation and protected area management in Vietnam between 2004 and 2022, mostly with Fauna & Flora International (FFI). During that time, he also worked on climate/nature synergies in protected areas, mangrove systems, REDD+, and energy policy (mainly hydro-dams). He has been involved with various conservation and forest carbon/carbon market analysis projects in Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Australia, England, Tanzania and Mozambique. Josh finished his MSc degree in Ecological Management at Imperial College, London, England in 2004. Josh expects to provide technical support for WildAct in strategic planning, legality, governance, and assist WildAct to expand its influence at the regional and global levels.

Nguyen Thi Thu Trang

Founder & Executive Director

Dr. Trang Nguyen is a Vietnamese wildlife conservation scientist and practitioner. Born and raised in Vietnam, Trang has always been close to the plight of endangered wildlife and began her conservation efforts when she was just 16. In 2018, Trang finished her PhD in Biodiversity Management at the University of Kent, England.

Phan Thi Huong Giang

General Accountant

Ms. Phan Thi Huong Giang is General Accountant in WildAct. She has had 15 years in The regional Project “Network for Agriculture and Rural Development Think-tanks for Countries in Mekong sub-region”, Eduacation Project, Urban water supply and waste water project, Water Supply and Sanitation Project for 5 cities and towns … with demonstrated history of working at ODA Project. Before being a member of the WildAct’s family, she had worked as a project Accountant and Consulting service for assistance in designated accounts management. Giang started her career as a General Accountant. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Auditing. Giang is a reliable person, responsible for work and very grateful for a chance to prove herself at WildAct.

Tran Thi Yen

Program & Operations Coordinator

With rich surveying experience on many target groups of a number of projects, in 2018, Yen started her conservation journey at SVW with the position of Research Assistant in a social research project on wildlife hunting and product use. This programme has contributed to developing and implementing education and awareness programs for local communities and students in the buffer zone of Pu Mat National Park.

Ha Le Thu

Public Relations and Donors Engagement Officer

Graduated with a major in Public Relations at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Thu Ha took a further step as a Public Relations and Donors Engagement Officer at WildAct. Thu Ha has always desired to make work that provides positive values to the community, contributing to establishing a better social life day by day, starting with multi-platform media campaigns concentrating on mental health and green lifestyle. As a girl who enjoys learning about communication case studies, Thu Ha hope that her contributions will assist in spreading the excellent activities of WildAct throughout the community about wildlife conservation. Currently, she is working at the position of Communication & Fund-Raising Coordinator at WildAct. Take responsibility for the development, publication and distribution of all online and offline communication materials and manage WildAct communications strategies including website, print, social media, and public relations.

Bui Minh Tue Thu

Communications and Fundraising Officer

Tue Thu is a girl who since childhood has wanted to do work that can create social impact. Born in Nghe An and raised in a family surrounded by plants and animals, she has always had a strong connection with nature. When working at WildAct, she feels happy because this is where she can use her communication skills to raise awareness about environmental problems in the community. Tue Thu graduated with honours with a major in International Relations & Global Communication at the Academy of Journalism and Communication. Hopefully in the future Tue Thu and WildAct will grow together to be able to carry out many projects on the journey protecting wildlife. In particular, Tue Thu is a girl with a great interest in cinema and travel. So in her free time, it is common for her friends to see her handling a camera to capture moments of experiential trips. Tue Thu also cherishes the plan to make documentaries on the topic of "Wildlife", hoping that the girl's plans can come true in the future.

Species and habitat conservation

Ngo Quoc Phu

Program Manager

Ngo Quoc Phu is a scientist, field surveyor of biodiversity. Ever since he was a boy, Phu has been an enthusiast of science and wildlife, he is well aware that wild animals must live in their own designated habitat. After graduating from a master's program in 2015 with a major in environmental and resource management, he teaches at the university and spends a lot of time doing scientific research on biodiversity. He has participated in many scientific research projects and programs in many national parks and protected areas in Vietnam. With his experience, knowledge and love for wildlife, Phu decided to join WildAct to contribute to enhancing conservation and management of species and its vital habitats in Vietnam.

Capacity, school and community

Nguyen Thanh Nga

Project Manager

Thanh Nga has joined WildAct as an Education Officer since 2021. Before that, she participated in environmental activities as a volunteer in IUCN's plastic waste communication campaigns when she was a university student. Nga began working with local environmental NGOs and gained a lot of experience in organising training activities and communicating with the community. Besides, Nga participated and completed a variety of forums and training programs on leadership development and project management by CLP, British Council. Currently, Nga is coordinating and implementing national capacity building programs for young conservationists, developing wild library projects and communication programs to raise public awareness in protected areas and national parks in VietNam. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, cycling and spending time with nature and loved ones. She holds a Bachelor's in Sociology from University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Pham Hanh Huong

Education Outreach Officer

Born and grew up in Thai Nguyen, Hanh Huong's childhood was associated with the mountain landscape along with green tea hills. Huong involved in conservation when she was a university student with an internship position at MCD (Marine life conservation and community development NGO) as well as participating in scientific research with friends and teachers at the university. With accumulated experience in community connection as well as the confident public speaking ability and organized activities with the community, Huong became an Education Outreach Officer at WildAct in 2023. Currently Huong directly implements projects within the School and community program of WildAct, including: "Wild Library" project and "Wild Rhino Demand Reduction” campaign in collaboration with Wilderness Foundation Africa. Energetic, enthusiastic, cheerful are the adjectives used to describe this girl. Another interesting fact about Huong is that she loves to sit and watch the rain and inhale the scent of heaven and earth with a cup of tea.

Carmen Chan

Carmen is a people-driven entrepreneur who specialises in design, communication and connection. She believes in collective work towards gender equality and a sustainable planet. In the past 10 years, she has founded three ventures - her namesake jewellery brand, Carmen Chan Jewelry; creative agency, Studio C; and social business, Good Work. Carmen Chan Jewelry celebrates the beauty of imperfection through jewellery and accessory design. Carmen was awarded as the finalist of Lane Crawford Calling Out For the Next New 2015 and highlighted in Facebook #SheMeansBusiness in 2016. Her jewellery designs were published in international press including Vanity Fair, Tatler, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Timeout, and more. Studio C is a creative agency that provides public relations, marketing, and design services. Some of the clients of STUDIO C include Taylor Swift, Marriott International, AXA, Johnson & Johnson, The Lane Crawford Joyce Group, Hang Lung Properties, New World Development, Hong Kong Design Centre, Affordable Art Fair and more. Good Work is a social business that aims to inspire, empower and uplift women to the light of equal opportunities in work and entrepreneurship. We believe in collaborative and collective work with other social innovators and nonprofits towards the eradication of gender inequality and gender-based violence. Carmen always believes in collective work towards gender equality and a sustainable planet. During her journey to the world, she connects with good-hearted and action-driven people who strive to make changes for a better world. Inspired by the founding story of Trang Nguyen, founder of WildAct, Carmen was also drawn to the program initiated by WildAct in promoting nature conservation by empowering women and protecting female conservationists in Vietnam from sexual and gender-based violence. As the strategic partner of WildAct, Carmen shares her expertise in branding and marketing and works collectively with WildAct towards a common goal of a better world.

Viet Anh

Communication Professional Supporter

Viet Anh has been working as a Communication Professional Supporter at WildAct for 4 years. His professions are varied including brand and campaign designing, video making and photo-shooting. Anh got inspired by Trang Nguyen at a launching event for her first book titled “Back to the Wild” in 2018. This prompted him to take more action for the good cause of our society. He wanted to be a design volunteer for WildAct and was happy to receive the warm welcome, appreciation, openness, and support from Trang and her team. Viet Anh designed branding identity packages for key projects of WildAct including Wild Library Project, Captive Wild Animals Welfare Training Course, Student Conference on Nature Conservation 2020. He was also a photographer and filmmaker for WildAct’s events. He’s grateful to gain new insights and knowledge regarding nature and wildlife conservation, as well as working with the passionate and dynamic team of WildAct. Viet Anh hopes he can always be a part of WildAct family and together they fulfil WildAct’s mission.

Chau Hoang

Communication Professional Supporter

Chau is a designer and facilitator with a primary focus on creating a just and sustainable future for all living beings, both human and non-human, through creative and collective methods. She employs design thinking and speculative design to advance this vision with WildAct, supporting projects like the development of a new user-friendly website and co-facilitating a collective imagination workshop with teenagers, envisioning diverse futures for migratory birds. Her passion for learning led her to participate in WildAct's CWT course, equipping her with the knowledge and skills for conducting comprehensive research on illegal coral trading in Vietnam. With her expertise and enthusiasm, she aims to integrate more emerging and participatory design methods into conservation efforts, fostering a more inclusive approach that engages and empowers people to collectively build a just and sustainable future.

Hanh Linh

Communication Professional Supporter

Hanh Linh's profound passion for wildlife conservation has been a part of their life since they were a little kid. Their journey began with inspiration drawn from remarkable role models in this admirable field, nurturing and strengthening their love and respect for nature and the environment.
