Special Training Session for Young Female Researchers and Conservation Practitioners officially calling for applications

General introduction:

Training "Building Conservation Capacity for Young Female Fellows - 2023" within the framework of the project "Promoting women-led applied conservation research and practices on the Annamite Range in Vietnam 2023 - 2024" organized by WildAct. 

Training course aims to:

  • Equip participants with knowledge and skills in project design, grant proposal development, identifying and responding to gender issues in the conservation sector for young Vietnamese female conservationists;

  • Provide opportunities for participants to apply gained knowledge and skills to developing and implementing their projects at Chu Yang Sin National Park. 

Training modules:

  • Conservation project design;

  • Grant proposal development;

  • Identify and respond to gender issues in the conservation sector. 

Expected training outcomes:

  • At least 60 applications meet the registration requirements in which 30 applications will be selected to be trainees;

  • At least 70% of trainees pass the final exam on the content of the trained topics;

  • Graduates can design conservation projects and develop grant proposals in a scientific and satisfactory manner;

  • At least 05 grant proposals were submitted in which 02 proposals will be selected to receive a funding up to 380 million VND.

Participants of the training course:

  • Young female conservationists working in Vietnam;

  • Female postgraduate students in majors such as biology, resource management, law enforcement, economics, education, communications, sociology...;

  • Vietnamese women have an interest and desire to participate in conservation activities.

Training experts:

  1. Dr. Nguyen Kieu Nga 

  • Deputy Director in charge of Expertise at the Center for Research and Scientific Application on Gender, Family, Women and Adolescents - CSAGA;

  • Doctor of Social Sciences, Master of Sociological Studies; Master of Social Work at Flinders University - Australia;

  • 10 years of experience researching and teaching in Australia in the field of gender and supporting diverse community groups.

2.Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang

  • Founder and CEO of WildAct Vietnam;

  • Doctor of Biodiversity Management at the University of Kent in the UK;

  • Global UK Alumni Awards, Science and Sustainable Development Category 2023.

3.Ms. Nguyen Thanh Nga

  • Project Manager at WildAct Vietnam;

  • 6 years of experience: developing and implementing training courses, wildlife education outreach and community engagement toward nature conservation;

  • Completed a number of short training courses regarding leadership and project management, hosted by the Conservation Leadership Program (CLP) and the British Council.

Training expenses:

  • The training is tuition-free course;

  • Lunch and tea break will be provided by WildAct;

  • Trainees are responsible for their own transportation, accommodation, and meals (except of lunch) during the training period.

Training timeline:

  • Application open and close: October 10 - 31, 2023;

  • Shortlisting outcome notified: November 1 - 10, 2023. Candidates may have an interview;

  • Training schedule: December 6 - 8, 2023;

  • Grant proposal submission open and close: December 20, 2023 - January 20, 2024;

  • Grant awarding and project implementation: February - August 2024.
